Love this one! I've actually been on the hunt for unique insult words that fit with the world I've built so I'll definitely putting blatherskite (it's even fun to type!) to good use. Thanks for sharing!
Isn't it just?! I was passingly familiar with the word already, but I'd nearly forgotten about it until I saw it on that list of obsolete words. So glad it brought it back to mind.
Oh, I'm sure I'll have more unique and archaic insults coming in future word nerdage posts 😂. You can never have too many of them. I'm glad you enjoyed the post!
Love it! I'll try to use blatherskyte in my next piece--whether fiction, essayistic, or poetry. :)
(I was also raised in a family who used/uses words that might not be the most popular, and have raised my children in a similar setting. I recall my daughter telling me her piano teacher was surprised when she used the word 'thrice' lol.)
I love hearing that! Vocabulary is so important and there are so many wonderful, forgotten words out there that it's truly saddening seeing the narrowing down of language. Modernity, I fear, has not been kind where language is concerned.

Yay! It deserves more usage!
